NAHBS 2015: Kent Eriksen Cycles Gravel Grinder / Adventure Bike

Kent of Kent Eriksen Cycles of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, specializes in titanium frame construction.  He began using titanium in 1991, after spending several years fabricating frames from steel.

Eriksen’s NAHBS bike featured here is a gravel grinder / adventure bike, built upon a frameset constructed from straight gauge 3 / 2.5 titanium. While Kent has built bikes in the past with butted tubing, he found that frame stiffness suffers. Alternatively, thinner gauge tube sets are available, which do not compromise ride quality. Eriksen only uses US sourced 3 / 2.5 straight gauge tubing.

Eriksen2015-1“Kent’s signature is his ability to shape, form and fit titanium tubes specific for each bike he designs. The shop is full of specialized benders, squishers and shaping tools used daily in the fabrication of custom frames.”  Did we mention the quality of Kent’s welds?  Stunning.

Eriksen2015-2The bike is equipped with Shimano’s hydraulic brake Dura Ace 9070 Di2 drivetrain, Enve tapered disc brake fork, King Headset, Zipp 303 disc brake wheels, Zipp stem and handlebars, and topped off Kent’s own titanium seatpost.

Eriksen2015-4Additional features on the frame include internal cable routing to keep everything clean, and rack mounts should you feel a little adventurous.

Erikson2015-3Anodized parts such as the Chris King headset, seatpost clamp, seatpost hardware and replaceable rear derailleur dropout really help this build to stand out.

Prices for the Kent Eriksen cyclocross / gravel / adventure frame start at $3400 US. Additional charge options include tapered headtube, etc.
