From the Promoter:
The Big Scrub Gravel Buzz returns! Mark your calendar for a cycling opportunity that offers adventure and camaraderie before, during, and after the ride.
The Big Scrub Gravel Buzz ventures into the world’s largest contiguous sand pine scrub. Riders will experience paved, chipseal, lime rock, grass, red dirt roads, and a bit of gravel here and there as they pass by the Ocklawaha River, wet prairies, swamps, and dense hammocks of palms, long-leaf pine and live oaks. The 58-mile, “Hawg Leg”, and the 95-mile, “Whole Hawg” follow the same route for the first 30 miles and the final 24 miles.
All riders of any ability are encouraged to enjoy sights cyclists rarely get a chance to see on roads less travelled by automobiles. This is a Charity ride benefiting the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – Ocala.
- Online registration for each rider is $20 which will be given to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and includes a post-ride Craft Beer from Infinite Ale Works.
- Day of registration with handwritten form is $30.
This year’s event is held in conjunction with:
Gravel, Cyclocross, or Mountain bikes are recommended. The road surfaces are not road bike friendly, please leave your road bike at home. Those on Mountain bikes are encouraged to fit a faster rolling tire that does well on pavement. Heavy, off-road specific tires with lots of knobs will really hurt your speed on the paved sectors.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – Ocala.
Participants, their friends and families are invited to hang out and socialize at Infinite Ale Works. Beer + bikes + food + friends and family = awesome!
Both routes depart Infinite Ale Works at approximately 9:15 am and will stay together as a group through town.
Online Registration is coming (through the Ocala Cycling Club).
