Courage RideFrom the Promoter:

An enjoyable ride over gently rolling hills, past Amish homesteads of Kalona, and over old stagecoach routes. Six paved routes are planned, from 16 to 110 miles.

New this year are three gravel routes: 100K, 80 and 100 miles in length. You will travel the Amish countryside between Hills, Kalona and North English. Routes intersect with rest stops.

Registration: $60 by August 15; $75 August 16 and after. Includes breakfast, lunch, hot showers, rest stops, detailed route maps and SAG support. It’s a casual start, however the longer rides (80+ miles) generally leave the school around 7 am; other rides depart between 8 and 11 am. The ride is known for its entertaining and well-stocked rest stops, many with live music.

The Courage Ride raises funds for cancer research at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Over $44,000 was raised in 2014; more than $295,000 has been raised since 2005. The Courage Ride is sponsored by Bicyclists of Iowa City.
