From the Promoter:
A gravel road race on private farm roads at the base of Cedar Mountain in Rapidan, Virginia.
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Locust Hill Farm encompasses over 5,000 continuous acres of privately-owned land. Only 90 miles from the center of Washington, D.C., the farm is surrounded by untouched, historic land and borders Cedar Mountain (a.k.a. Slaughter’s Mountain) where a historic Civil War battle took place in 1862.
This race will explore Locust Hill Farm and Preserve on privately-owned gravel farm roads that run along the Robinson River, pass serene creeks and ponds, weave through open fields, and cross wooded forest trails. The area is truly a gravel enthusiast’s dream as well as a beautiful wildlife haven.
The “Dirty Kitten” is co-hosted by women’s “off-road” cycling team, Vanderkitten-Entourage Racing, and local equestrian group, Bull Run Hunt. This will be our 2nd year as an official gravel race. Your entry fee includes an amazing gravel experience, ride support, aid station, post-ride food and beverages (alcoholic & non-alcoholic), commemorative event swag, and payout/merchandise prizes for the top 3-5 finishers in each category/field provided by our kickass sponsors (see prize list). This year, we will also have on-site camping and pre-ride options available Friday (at an addition cost).
