From the Promoter:
Who doesn’t love a little rivalry….a little competition between friends and supporting a great cause while you’re doing it? We do and that’s why we want you to join us for the inaugural East West Groveler Race. Using the Platte River as our divide, you will be able to register to join the East team or the West team depending on which side of the Platte river you live.
The Team with the lowest number of points wins! Once registration closes, team size will be set by lowest number of participants signed up for the East or West team. Finishers receive a point equal to their finish position. As a bonus for some of our die-hard riders, a point will be subtracted for single speed category, fat tire and to encourage our female friends to get out and ride gravel with us, female team finishers. Tie breaker will go to largest team, so everyone counts! The highest-scoring team will be groveling about their gravel loss until next year!
The race, 40 miles on beautiful Platte River gravel, will start promptly at 10:00 am from Parker’s Smokehouse (Ashland), Hwy 6 & 63 intersection. Exit 420 & I-80. All riders need to be back by 2:00 pm to be assigned points. Join us for post-race party at Parker’s where we will announce our 2019 winner. There’s some serious bragging rights for winning the inaugural race, so get that team built up!
Yes, there will be a trophy that the winning team can celebrate and proudly display for a year and goodie bags for our participants.
The Groveler is presented by Trek Omaha & Wear Yellow Nebraska. Proceeds will be donated to Wear Yellow Nebraska and designated for Lincoln services if the West team (captain Rob Evans) wins or Omaha if the East team (Michael Merritt) wins.
$30 registration includes a sandwich, 2 sides and soda at post race party – plus a donation to Wear Yellow Nebraska! Register by 11/15 to assure you get race swag. Registration closes 11/22 at 1:00 pm and will be available on-site 11/23 for $40 cash or check.
Race is self-supported. Of course there will be adult beverages and additional meals available to purchase post-race. No refunds or transfers.
