Westhampton, MA 01027
From the Promoter:
The Westhampton Gravel Enduro is a new breed of ride. It takes the best part of every discipline and rolls them into one amazing event. You’ll be riding the best paved roads , dirt roads, gravel roads, fire roads, and jeep trails the surrounding area has to offer, with no shortage of great views.
The Gravel Enduro is exaclty as it sounds: a big loop with the total time not counting for overall placing, but 4 timed segments that will count towards an overall result. Mens and womens results will be seperated. So hangout, relax, laugh and enjoy the ride, but when the timed segments come up be ready to go all out!*
The start and finish of the segments will be marked clearly with signs, and all possible turns will be taped off. These segments are very technical, so riders should use extreme caution. If you do not feel comfortable, do NOT race the segment! Segments will be timed using Strava. Winners will be announced 24 hours after the event. If you do not have a Strava account you can make one here – https://www.strava.com/
*You do not need to race the segments to enjoy this ride.
What to ride:
The best bike for this ride would be a cross bike, or rigid mountain bike, with 32mm tires or larger– The larger the better, with very durable casing and flat protection. If you’re set up with tubes, bring a lot of them! Mountain bike shoes/pedals are ideal. Do not use your expensive race equipment, you will probably destroy it! To be counted for the Enduro classification you must ride a rigid bike.
Will be online until May 19th at midnight. Day of registration is available for $55
The course will be marked with route arrows on the ground, and there will also be a gpx file to download soon, which we highly reccomend. The route will be published on May 1st, so locals won’t have too much of an advantage to preride segments. The course is filled with really difficult, unmaintained roads. We strongly urge riders to use their best judgement and walk when they need to. The route will test every aspect of your riding, from aerobic fitness, to how well you can handle arm-pump. Riders must follow the rules of the road at all times, as this event is not a closed course.
Event will run rain or shine.
There will be a party at Steve’s Sugar Shack after the ride where we will be eating food and drinking beer while telling stories of the epic route. BYOB if you’d like, or make a donation and have some craft beer that will be supplied. Beer is tbd, but will be something delicious! We ask that you pedal to Steve’s, as there is not much parking. Its just a short jog down the street.
