According to e*thirteen, their new XCX carbon cranksets are the lightest production models you can buy. For the 1x crowd, you can rejoice, as they are 1x specific (sorry 2x fans), utilize a 30mm spindle and a self-extracting bolt.

A demonstration of their supreme lightness:

  • XCXr Gravel Crank with e*thirteen 38T XCX chainring = 398 grams.
  • SRAM Force 1 Crank with 42T rings = 611 grams.

e*thirteen XCX Chainrings and Cassettes

The e*thirteen gravel cassettes all start with a 9 tooth cog, in 9-34, 9-39 and 9-42. All variants are 11-speed compatible, with a mix of 10 steel cogs and 1 in aluminium.

XCX Plus Cassette Specs:

  • XCX Plus 9-34 – 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 24, 27, 30, 34 (271 grams), range = 378%, Price: $US 209
  • XCX Plus 9-39 – 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 24, 28, 33, 39 (315 grams), range = 433%, Price: $US 249
  • XCX Plus 9-42 – 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, 23, 27, 31, 36, 42 (330 grams), range = 467%, Price: $US 269
  • All cassettes feature 1 aluminium cog, 10 steel cogs.
  • Compatible with XD or XDR drivers (spacer included)

All are available now barring the 9-42, coming in June 2019.

Finally, the XCX chainrings become ultralight thanks to some handy machine work, and are available in 32, 34, 36, 38, 40 and 42 teeth.
