Just About Anywhere
“In 2017 we launched our first bike, the True Grit gravel bike. Damn that was fun! It has been a while since then, but we haven’t gone anywhere, we’ve been busy – like smooth operators. Today we present the Anywhere mixed terrain bike – made to shake, stir and mix things up between pavement and gravel.” – Lauf Cycling
The Anywhere builds on some of the same elements as the True Grit. Utilising the same trusty frame, the foundation is solid with the same long and low features for speed and stability.
The frame is paired with our new carbon rigid fork, the JAF. But you know, it’s just a fork with triple cage-mounts and lightweight yet stiff structure.
The JAF brings the front end slightly down to a more road-oriented and more aerodynamic setup. Fast and furious if you will. Because we use the same frame as on the True Grit it’s easy to update the Anywhere with our Grit SL fork, for the ultimate gravel race machine.
Paired with the JAF we developed the Smoothie comfort drop bar because we believe speed and comfort can go together in perfect harmony – like shark and brennivín.
Smoothie is not just a drop bar with a new shape and more positions – although there are some nifty new places to hold onto. The structure is made of carbon and our high-end S2 fiberglass, which enabled us to design comfort into it where needed the most – most comfort with hands on the hoods and the drops. Smoothie eats vibrations and softens the hit from potholes.
We know it’s important to play in the mud so naturally, the Anywhere has room for up to 700c x 45mm tires with proper clearance. It ships ready to race on Maxxis Velocita AR semi-slick all-round tires. Of course, it also has a threaded bottom bracket, so you can listen to the sounds of nature and internal cable routing, so we don’t keep you away from the saddle for too long should you want to fire in some new bling.

The Lauf Smoothie Handlebar
The Lauf Smoothie dropbar is designed to eat vibrations. The perfect match for gravel and rough pavement. High-performance S2 glass fibers combined with carbon fiber, placed strategically, create a flexible zone out from the stem – isolating you from the road. The Smoothie gives you increased comfort wherever you choose to place your hands, with most comfort in the most common hand positions – in the hoods or the drops. Tuck and just ride!
Flared drops give comfort on the long haul and control over rough surfaces. Back swept top is nice for the climbs, and to ease the lower back on a long journey. The snug corner sits perfectly in your palm – a good rest for tired hands.
The Lauf JAF Fork
The Lauf JAF is a super normally lightweight carbon rigid fork, with triple cage-mounts. In other words, just a fork.
You can still go on crazy fun adventures on the JAF. Even pavement and gravel on the one and same adventure. Mix things up a bit, do something out of the box.
You’ll be slicing the air like a cheese grater on semi-frozen butter. So, you can just hop on and just ride into the wild – like a normal person.

The smoothie drops look interesting. Would consider buying it for my GB if it doesn’t flex much while standing.
I wonder what Soma Fabrications, a bicycle company, thinks about Lauf Cycling naming their new drop bars “Smoothie”? Soma has had a steel road frame called the “Smoothie” for years (https://www.somafab.com/archives/product/smoothie).
I’m staying out of this one :), but I can think of at least one company who has named a product after a certain other well-known product.
Indeed! It does seem to happen within the (arguably small) cycling industry; and to me that is the surprising part. That it continues to happen within this industry. Comparatively, it’s not like a computer company forced to changed the name of its operating system by an automobile company because they both used the same name. Clearly, confusing operating systems and automobiles must happen to people all the time when they use either. 😉
The bar looks really interesting, although I’m not sold on the stack/reach configuration they’re going for.
