“Our 3rd Annual Race will take place on June 4, 2022 in Martin, Michigan at the Martin High School, 1556 Chalmers Street, Martin, MI 49070. Our website can be found at www.dirtydonutrace.com A portion of the race goes to help Make-A-Wish and the Martin School System.”
“The Dirty Donut is the first event of its kind held to be held on dirt roads. It offers three different distances of races, 22, 41, and 61 miles, and welcomes a wide variety of cyclists. Everyone from the very serious racer to those that just want a fun riding experience have a place at this event. Serious racers will opt for the “Sprint” race, which is conducted much like any other gravel race and the winners are the first to finish. “Donut” racers will opt for a bit more strategy in a race where the winner is often times not the fastest rider, but the rider who can combine speed with how many donuts they can eat. In the Donut races, each race distance has “donut stops” positioned along the race route. Participants deduct five minutes from their final finish time for each donut they consume at one of our “donut stops” in the race.”
“We are happy that over 300 people from 6 different states have already registered for our race this year. Last year we had 455 registered riders and we think we may sell out this year at 600 participants. In just our third year, the Dirty Donut has become one of the fastest growing gravel grinders in the Midwest. When you race with us you get so much more for your registration money than a great time. You get an event t-shirt like no other you have ever seen, a catered lunch, a super sweet finishers medal, all the donuts you can eat, a custom race number plate, you’re helping raise funds for Make-A-Wish and the Martin Michigan Schools, awesome door prizes from our sponsors, and depending on how you finish, a chance to win cash, trophies, jerseys, and custom age division medals.”
We provide a well-marked, beautiful, flowing course for you to race on. This year we are adding more outdoor announcement speakers, on site camping, licensed day care provided by Little Clippers Daycare just a few blocks from the start finish line, a smoother day of race registration process, large maps at registration showing where everything is located, 240 feet of “made for cycling” start finish line barricades, 13 foot tall “Donut Stop” flags on the route to help you see the donut stops before you get to them, a 10’ x 20’ tent at the finish where your donuts will be counted, and the beginnings of a ”Cycling Vendor Village” where you can shop and mingle while eating lunch and waiting for awards.
