Featured Event: La Resistance – La Plage, Talloires, France

From the Promoter:

La Resistance is back for its second edition this September. After a successful inaugural event last year, La Resistance is back in 2017, bigger and better. More gravel sections have been added to the challenging Alpine route and a 3-day bike packing event called Tour de la Resistance has been added for the real adventure aficionados.
Featuring a mixed tarmac and gravel parcours and two grueling Alpine ascents, the event has been conceived to honour the resistance fighters of WWII and encourage a return to “slow” cycling – the event styles itself as the anti-sportive with no timing and no gold medal times to achieve.
Instead, participants are encouraged to ride with friends, take the time to admire the amazing mountain views and make the ride a complete day out to remember. To round off the day, the usual pasta party is replaced with an evening of live music, great local cuisine and swing dancing on the shores of beautiful Lake Annecy called La Guinguette.
Entries are still open for both the one day La Resistance and 3 day Tour de la Resistance. More information at www.laresistance.cc

Event partner Basecamp is renting Open and 3T gravel bikes for the event at www.base-camp.bike

La Resistance 130km / 3,000m ascent – 20km of compulsory gravel sections plus an extra 20km of optional sections for the connoisseurs.

La Petite short course 90km / 2,100m ascent – 18km of compulsory gravel sections plus an extra 20km of optional sections for the connoisseurs.

Tour de la Resistance 350km / 9,000m ascent over 3 days. Two days of bike packing joining up with La Resistance for the final day.

I rode the La Resistance in 2016 – what a great day; camaraderie between all riders – lots of opportunities for photos, great coffee and eating; all with challenging riding.

The Basecamp team are so well organised. Off to Talloires again in September.
