Calfee has been in business since 1989, although Craig Calfee produced his first prototype frame in 1987. “Craig Calfee needed a bike frame after a spectacular head-on collision in Boston. Determined to make this frame as tough as possible, he built a bike using materials he had used at a job making composite rowing shells. He braided the tubes and laminated them together with tooling made on a drill press.” Craig is recognized as an innovator in the construction of carbon frames, and more recently, bamboo frames.
JOM of the Gravel Cyclist crew is a long-time fan of Calfee, and has owned / owns several Calfee bicycles. Due to popular request to show off some of his personal bikes, this Calfee Luna Pro road bike has seen the gravelly road less traveled, namely at the famous Rouge Roubaix race out of St. Francisville, Louisiana. For the record, JOM took a 5th place finish at the 2011 Rouge Roubaix in the Master’s category aboard a Calfee, long before wider tyres were prevalent. 700c x 24mm on the mixed-surface roads, spicy!
Calfee Luna Pro Classic
“Luna leverages a purposeful blend of standard modulus 33 msi carbon fiber with some intermediate modulus 42 msi fiber to achieve our famous ride quality. These seamless, roll-wrapped tubes have been optimized to transfer power without transferring vibration through the pedals, saddle and handlebars.”
“Luna frames are as laterally stiff as the Tetra and are nearly as comfortable. What the thicker walled carbon fiber tubes give up in absorption, they make up for in durability as they resist compressive and impact forces better than our Tetra and Dragonfly tube sets.”
“Luna Pro Classic: Equipped with 1 ⅛” Head Tube and offers a more supple ride paired with classic styling.”

liked JOM article, run a Wound disc on an 08 FSC road bike. Love the fork as it has large tire clearance and super still laterally. Even tho its his beater, I would have still run a disc. He regrets selling his and I will never sell mine. More like this guys
Thanks
