Interesting. Are you saying, that with those brake levers, I can shift a true vintage friction derailleur system?

Does the lever move through the gears the more you push it similar to downtube shifters, or do you have to keep pushing the lever over and over to get the derailleur to move through more than one gear at a time?

By the way, I don’t think downtube shifters suck, but that’s just me.

Hello Fred, being friction levers, I would expect they could shift any derailleur.

I wasn’t actually able to play with the bike in the video, so I cannot answer our question at this time. However, I may have a shifter set in for review soon, stay tuned.

Downtube friction shifting is somewhat acceptable, the last time I rode them was at 2016 L’Eroica… vintage Vitus 979, full mavic build, exposed brake cables, toestraps, 230ish kms. I do not like bar end friction shifting, particularly some of the so called “influencers” who hate on absolutely anything new, or anything electronic. Being negative about everything, not a way to live.
