If you think riding around on the road less traveled in the daytime is fun, wait until you try riding at night time! Riders experience a whole new perspective of the same roads in the daytime versus nighttime, which includes learning the finer nuances of one’s local mixed-surface roads.

Here in North Florida, we are fortunate to be able to ride year round, outdoors. Florida Winter? JOM of the Gravel Cyclist crew and friends first began riding on the gravelly road less traveled round 2006.

These night time adventures began out of necessity, fulfilling the need to train at night after the workday had finished. Safe and vehicle-free mixed-surface cycling. Little did we realize where our pioneering days in the state in Florida would ultimately lead!

The ride in this video happened early March of 2025, a little before the official time change to Daylight Savings Time. JOM of the Gravel Cyclist crew and friends typically meet once or twice a week during the cooler winter nights of North Central Florida, to ride hard in a safe and fun manner… or slower in a safe and fun manner. Our rides encourage you to ride as hard as you like on each mixed-surface sector, then regroup and ride together to the next sector, repeat.

Finishing up the ride at the pub, the only way to ride!
