Interbike 2014 Day 1 – Tubeless Dirt Road Tires & Paul Components Brakes

Greetings readers,

If you missed it, I’m helping my friends at American Classic with their 2014 presence at Interbike.  Time to scope goodies and such today was limited, but I did spot a few gems that stood out from the sea of carbon blandness.  Take a gander at today’s sightings.

Paul Components Klamper brakes are gorgeous, and should be available later this year.  They’re going to be pricey, around $200 a caliper MSRP, but they are made in the US of A.  I would expect their performance to be similar to an Avid BB7?

IRC of Japan has some interesting tubeless road tire options, that are plenty wide enough to ride on dirt roads.  The 25mm variants “grow” up to 28mm, depending on the tubeless rim they are mounted upon.  The show samples were mounted aboard American Classic 2218RD’s.  I hope to collect a sample or two of the 25mm tires on the final show day, rack up some miles, and relay my thoughts at a later date.

The Fondriest frame is… well… sweet.  There is also the lovely not so fat Ti FATLABS bike, pictured above.

Unfortunately, no bikes or frames jumped out at me during my brief foray to the show floor.  Hope to get another look tomorrow, and see what I can find.

Thanks for reading!
